Lisa Hudson
Lisa Hudson has been making outstanding pottery for almost two decades. The work of this native Memphian and mother of three young aspiring artists draws on the music and regional geography of the Mid-South. Her colorful catfish mugs are a notable example. She became interested in pottery after attending the University of Memphis where she studied graphic arts. A friend showed her some basic techniques; then she began exploring the medium and taught herself how to work with clay. She attributes her graphic arts background with helping her to design her pottery, all of which is fully functional, lead free, and dishwasher safe. Lisa is an active member of the "Memphis Potters' Guild," an organization of potters that one must be invited to join. Her pottery has been displayed at regional festivals such as Memphis’ Cooper Young Festival, the Double Decker Festival in Oxford, MS, the Bele Chere Festival in Ashville, North Carolina, and The Center for Southern Folklore’s Memphis Music and Heritage Festival. |
